Shabby Easter Egg

Hello crafters I hope you have all had a great week! I have nearly finished the craft room blitz! I have a couple of items that I have doubled up on which I will give away on my blog next week....so stay tuned.
I am here today to share a decorated Easter Egg Ornament that I have made. For Christmas last year I made some giant decorated ornaments using Soccer Balls. After Christmas I got to thinking how and what could I use to achieve an egg shape. After some trawling on the Internet I found the perfect solution...A balloon!
I inflated a balloon and used torn up strips of wrapping tissue and watered down PVA glue to form a layer and left it to dry fully before applying another layer. This isn't a project to be rushed and I have been working on my eggs on and off for about 8 weeks.
On this Egg I left an oval opening at the front for the Chick to hatch. I painted the inside of the Egg with Pale Pink acrylic paint.
After about 12/15 layers the egg shape becomes firm. I burst the balloon and cover the tissue with a layer of sparkly lace & voile which masks the unevenness of the surface.
Now for the fun part I hauled out all of my lace trims and began to decorate the outside of the Egg.

I finally added a cute fluffy chick to complete the project.
I have really enjoyed this project. I love making items to decorate the home no matter what the season. I have enjoyed revisiting my childhood and using the Papier Mache technique...I found it quite relaxing listening to music and getting all 'icky'.

I am entering my project into the following Challenges:

Thank you for visiting have a great week! xx
